Classification of Dental Handpieces
Dental handpiece has become an indispensable tool for clinical work in the oral cavity. It can hold burs to complete dental drilling, grinding, cutting, shaving, and repairing of restorations. Used in conjunction with a comprehensive treatment machine.
Low-speed handpieces include straight nose handpieces, contra angle handpieces, and motors. Can be divided into the following different categories:
- According to the way of water outlet, it is divided into outer water channel and inner water channel.
- According to the way of light , divided into no light and LED with light.
Among them, LED light emission is also divided into: wind power light or external generator light:
- According to its material, it is divided into stainless steel and titanium alloy.
- The contra angle handpiece is divided into constant speed, deceleration and increase speed according to its speed.
- The contra angle handpiece is divided into root canal therapy, implant therapy, polishing, etc. according to its use.
- There are some special contra angle handpieces
According to different classification methods, high-speed handpieces can be divided into the following different categories:
- According to the connection with the connecting pipe, it can be divided into with and without quick-change joints.
- According to the connection type with the connecting pipe, it can be divided into two holes (driving gas, water); three holes (driving gas, water, atomizing gas); four holes (atomizing gas, return gas) and six-hole optical fiber (driving gas) , water atomizing gas, return gas and two electrode columns) handpiece.
- According to the exhaust method of handpieces, it can be divided into internal exhaust (four holes and six holes) and external exhaust (two holes) handpieces.
- According to the size of the head of the handpiece, it can be divided into large (head diameter φ12.2); medium (head diameter φ11.2); small (head diameter φ10.2). Because the size of the head is different, the power of the handpiece is also different, and the use is also slightly different.
- According to the installation method of handpiece bur, it can be divided into gland type and wrench type.
