6 Details of Dental Handpiece Maintenance

1 The handpiece must be lubricated in strict accordance with the instruction manual. Generally, the handpiece is lubricated twice a day at high speed. Low-speed handpieces (straight, conta angle, motor) once a day.
2 The working pressure of the handpiece must be strictly in accordance with the instructions. Under normal circumstances, the working pressure of two-hole and three-hole handpieces is 2–2.2Kg, and the working pressure of four-, five-, and six-hole handpieces is 2.4-2.5Kg (referring to the pressure at the interface between the handpiece and the connecting pipe). The pressure of the new treatment handpiece must be adjusted when it is used, and the pressure of the treatment machine must be recalibrated for a period of time (about one month).

3 Disinfection: High temperature steam disinfection should be used. Chemical liquid and dry heat disinfection should not be used. The disinfection temperature is 135 ℃. The maximum time should not exceed 30 minutes. It must be cleaned before disinfection and lubricated after disinfection. Note: The handpiece with quick-change connector should be removed, only disinfect the handpiece, not the connector. For low-speed handpieces, please remove the straight and curved heads for disinfection. When the handpiece is dirty, please clean it with alcohol.
4 Do not use standard, rusted, aged burs or sharpeners.
5 Gland high-speed handpiece must not press the gland when rotating, so as not to damage the movement. Straight and bender can not be loaded and unloaded when turning.
6 The burs, grinding heads or “standard bars” should be removed and installed once a day to avoid rusting the burs if they are not removed for a long time.
